“As an old woman, Elizabeth Keckley told friends that Mary Lincoln tried to get in touch with her in a roundabout way...”

CAST

Elizabeth Keckley played by Lisa Arrindell: Reserved, imposing, proud. A commanding figure. A modiste and former dressmaker and confidant to Mary Lincoln, dressed in one of her own exquisite yet worn designs. Her regal exterior covers up her rage and self-doubt, yet she is determined to get what she wants.

Mary Lincoln played by Veanne Cox: A small woman not more than 5”5’, plump and dressed in an extravagant mourning dress complete with gloves and veil.

Breed/George played by Richard Phillips: He appears younger but hardened by neglect. He is a thief. George, Keckley’s son, 16, bitter, rigid.

Hendrick Swendon/ Robert/Hotel Waiter played by Jake O’Flaherty: Swendon is British or Scottish working class. A sleazy con artist with airs. Robert, stuffy, conservative. Hotel Waiter, Northeasterner with a limp.

The Ghost of the Formerly Enslaved Woman played by Megan Augustine: African American ( 20s)/ Thin, broken in appearance. A beautiful singer, in the style of the Fisk Jubilee Singers. She haunts Keckley, as the younger woman she once was. She is her conscience, her trauma, her regret.
